Anxieties and obsessions are intrusive thoughts, images and worries which can be very annoying, upsetting or even debilitating. You are not alone because anxiety and anxiety-related conditions are the most common psychological afflictions of man and account for a major percentage of initial complaints to psychiatrists as well as to general practitioners. Although it is estimated that some 5% of the population may suffer from acute or chronic anxiety, with women outnumbering men two to one (Cohen and White, 1950), the numbers are probably significantly higher.


Clinical Hypnotherapy is an extremely effective therapy for treating anxiety, obsessions and obsessive behavior. It is a very special type of hypnotherapy and one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological and anxiety related issues. Depression must be one of the most common and most serious mental conditions that people face. While it is normal to feel sad or melancholy at times, clinical depression happens when these feelings of gloom last for prolonged periods. Some cases even endure for years, especially if they are allowed to go untreated. Depression is very disruptive to the lives of people experiencing it because it robs them off their will to even get up in the morning or to go about their normal day to day activities.

Feelings of sadness normally pass within a few days. With a depression, however, people find it difficult to function normally, and the mental state affects not only the clients but also those involved in their lives. People experience depression in different ways, and the frequency, severity and duration depend on a variety of factors. Depression is serious, and most people need treatment of some kind to feel better.

  • Symptoms of depression that occur nearly every day, all day, for at least two weeks, include:
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, guilt and/or pessimism
  • Persistent anxious, sad or empty feelings
  • Irritability and restlessness
  • Difficulty concentrating, making decisions or remembering details
  • Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities
  • Change in weight
  • Energy loss

Other issues might arise, such as headaches, digestive issues and problems with sex.


Hypnotherapy is considered an effective treatment for depression. According to a 2007 study, hypnotherapy treatments proved to be more helpful than cognitive-behavioral therapy for reducing depression, anxiety and hopelessness, and the positive outcomes continued for at least one year after the study ended. Hypnotherapy assists clients with taking positive steps toward better coping skills, healthier behavior and happier moods.

In about 3 to 5 sessions Richard Dama, LPC, Counseling and Clinical Hypnotherapy helps people with depression to mentally counter and refute negative, pessimistic thoughts. Through the use of imagery and suggestion, the process imprints new coping skills directly into the subconscious mind. During clinical hypnotherapy sessions, clients also learn to change their behavior, refocus their attention and practice deep breathing. They can use their new skills and positive mental messages to psychologically “vaccinate” themselves against depressing thoughts.

Research into cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments established that weight loss is greater where hypnosis is utilized. It was also established that the benefits of hypnosis increase over time.Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1996)

Hypnosis, when practiced by a legitimate provider, is approved for clinical use by both the British Medical Association and the American Medical Association.

Most importantly for you, clinical studies showing how hypnosis helps with weight loss are irrefutable:

In a 9-week study of two weight management groups (one using hypnosis and one not using hypnosis), the hypnosis group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology).

In a study of 60 women separated into hypnosis versus non-hypnosis groups, the groups using hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds, while the non-hypnosis group lost an average of only .5 pounds (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology).

In a meta-analysis, comparing the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness POST TREATMENT by over 146%. This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology).

The bottom line here is that when hypnosis sessions are added to various weight loss programs, the results are always better — more than 146% better over the long term!

Clinical studies show almost 90% of participants quit and remain tobacco free with hypnosis.

A field study of 93 male and 93 female CMHC outpatients showed that after the program, 92% of the men and 90% of the women reported abstinence after 3 months. In the long-term, 86% of the men and 87% of the women reported continued abstinence.
